George: Japan? What is it, Dr. ECOM? Like a big festival?
Dr. ECOM: You could say that! It’s called Expo 2025. It’s like a huge World’s Fair where countries from all over the globe gather. It just opened in a city called Osaka and will be open until October.
George: Wow, all countries? What are they doing there?
Dr. ECOM: They are showing everyone amazing new ideas and cool inventions for the future! The big idea is “Designing Future Society for Our Lives.” That means thinking about how to make life better for all of us later on.
George: Better how? What cool stuff do they have?
Dr. ECOM: They have prototypes of “flying cars” – cars that might fly someday! And amazing science things, like lab-grown heart tissue to help people. Oh, and the world’s longest sushi conveyor belt!
George: Flying cars?! No way! And a sushi train? Awesome! What else?
Dr. ECOM: Lots of countries, more than 160, built special houses called pavilions. They are all arranged around a giant wooden circle called the “Grand Ring.” It’s the biggest wooden structure in the world! Plus, there’s a funny blue-and-red mascot named Myaku-Myaku.
George: A giant wooden ring? That sounds cool! Why is it important?
Dr. ECOM: It shows how countries can work together to build amazing things. The whole Expo is about collaboration – everyone sharing ideas and working together to make a better future.
George: So, is everything perfect there?
Dr. ECOM: Well, putting on such a big fair is hard work! Some buildings weren’t quite finished on opening day, and it cost a lot of money, which made some people talk. But most visitors are very excited to see ideas from all around the world in one place.
George: I get it. So it’s like a big show-and-tell for the world, showing how we can make tomorrow better?
Dr. ECOM: Exactly, George! It’s a place to get inspired and remember that teamwork is the best way to design a happy future for everyone.
