さて、皆さんは大学時代にアルバイトをしていましたか？カナダの大学生の半分以上は、大学に通いながらバイトをしています。更に夏休みになると、アルバイトをする大学生は70%くらいになります。
では、カナダの大学生はどのような所で働くのでしょうか？今回はそれを紹介したいと思います。
（ちなみに、バイトの時給は州によって変わってくるので、私の住んでいるオンタリオ州のものを書いています。）
第3位：Clerk/Cashier（レジ）
時給：$10.25
カナダの大学生はよく、スーパー・ドラッグストア・スパーストア（ウォルマート）などでバイトをします。時給はminimum wage（最低賃金）ですが、働く時間がかなり自由で休みが取りやすいです。更にいつでも募集しているバイトなので、週に10-15時間ぐらいで働きたい学生には良いバイトです。
私は大学ではなく、高校の頃にこのバイトをやったことがあります。
第2位：Landscaping （ランドスケーピング）
時給：$12.00～
ランドスケーピングは特に、男子大学生に人気のバイトです。外で働き、ガーデニングや草刈りなどの作業をします。夏休み中にはフルタイムで入ることができるので、短期間で結構稼げるバイトだと言われています。体を動かす仕事が好きな人には、オススメのバイトです。
第1位：Server（レストランの店員）
時給：$8.90 + tips
大体どの大学でも、キャンパスの近くには多くの飲食店があって、いつでもスタッフを募集中しています。だから、このバイトは見つけることが簡単です。
また働く時間もかなり自由で、授業などで忙しいカナダの大学生にはやりやすい仕事です。
時給は他のアルバイトより低いですが、tip（チップ）をもらえます。1日に$150～$300のチップをもらえることもあるので、忙しいレストランで働いたら結構稼げます！
私の大学の友達の一人は、人気レストランで働いて毎晩200ドル以上のチップをもらっていました。しかし、仕事はかなり大変で、チップをあまりもらえない時は厳しいです。
性格が明るくて記憶力が良く、忙しい仕事が好きな人には良いバイトです。

I’m always interested in reading your topics. Giving tips to waiters and waitresses is a strange custom for me. Because I don’t give them tips in any restaurant in Japan, thinking of tips may be a pain in the neck in restaurants in the US or Canada. I heard that non-professional workers can expect tips from customers. What is the difference between professional jobs and menial labors? In some schools in the US, I heard that teachers are disrespected by students and their parents even though they supervise their students. Do we have to give them tips because we look down on menial job workers? If they are proud of serving meals to customers, do they want tips from customers? Would it be possible for waiters and waitresses to cheat the money? I usually see them pushing the money into their purse with the bill. Working as waiters and waitresses may get sufficient money, but I guess it may not be good for their mental health because they always consider how much they can earn from customers. Is it illegal to disobey the minimal wages rules when employers in the US and Canada hire waiters and waitresses?
