みなさん、お寿司は好きですか？お寿司といえば日本を代表する料理ですが、オーストラリアにもお寿司屋さんがあります。実はオーストラリアでは、回転寿司が大人気です！でも、やはり日本とは色んな違いがあります。
まず、日本の回転寿司は普通、一皿100円ですよね？しかしオーストラリアでは、寿司は高いものというイメージがあるため、値段が結構高いです。もちろん種類によって値段は変わりますが、平均の値段は一皿4ドル (380円)です。
また、オーストラリアの回転寿司は韓国人や中国人が経営している店が多いです。その影響で、日本にはない寿司が色々あります。例えば、韓国人がやっている店では、キムチの寿司やチーズの焼きサーモン寿司などがあります。中国人がやっている店では、寿司だけじゃなくて春巻きやシュウマイなどもあります。
そこで今日は、オーストラリア人の好きなスシネタTOP3を紹介します！
第3位：照り焼きチキンロール
オーストラリアで一番人気のある日本食は、照り焼きチキンです！なので、それを使った寿司も人気です。照り焼きチキンロールには色んなバリエーションがありますが、基本的にはレタスと照り焼きチキンとキュウリがのっています。
第2位：カリフォルニアロール
第2位は、アメリカで大人気のカリフォルニアロールです。この巻き寿司の中には、キュウリとアボカドとカニスティックとマヨネーズが入っています。クリーミーな味で、美味しいです。この寿司は、生の寿司を食べられない人にも人気です。
第1位：サーモンにぎり
オーストラリアで一番人気なのは、サーモンにぎりです！日本でも人気ですよね。しかもオーストラリアでは、すごく美味しいタイセイヨウサケのサーモンを使っています。だから、サーモンにぎりは大人気です。優しい味なので子供にも人気です。

Thank you very much for introducing us interesting topics about Australia. When I visited Sydney, I went to a Japanese noodle shop and ordered “Tokyo Ramen”. It was good. The waitress was a Japanese girl and she explained me the ingredients of the Ramen. There are a lot of Chinese people in Sydney and maybe they ran some Japanese restaurants. In general, the commodity price in Sydney was very expensive. Ramen here is around 600 yen, but the price of Ramen there was a bit more. However, Australian people in general may be rich because they can afford to order rather expensive food there.

How did you like Sydney when you visited?
I have had Tokyo Ramen as well – I think it is quite similar to Shio-Ramen in Japan, but I prefer Miso 🙂 That’s right, Japanese food is quite expensive in Australia. Recently, an Ippudo Ramen store opened in Sydney and a bowl of Miso Ramen costs about 15 dollars – that’s around 1500 yen! I’m enjoying being able to enjoy cheaper Japanese food now that I am living in Tokyo. Did you try any other interesting foods in Sydney?
Hello Max, Thank you for your reply. I tried several Australian foods, but, they were all kind of a bit sweet for me. When I ate a pie at Pie Face, it was nice. However, I tried a pancake at Pancake on the Rocks, it was a bit too sweet. As you mentioned, Ippido Ramen at Westfield Sydney was rather expensive, but Shoyu Ramen was less expensive ( around $10) than Miso Ramen and it was OK. However, thinking of the price of Japanese Ramen, I prefer not to eat Japanese food in Australia. We stayed at Park Hyatt, but the continental breakfast was $35 per person. It was a rip-off.

I think that Pie Face pies are not very good, but for some reason they are very popular with tourists. There are sometimes pie vendors on the street (like yakitori vendors in Japan). You can get a pie with peas and sauce on top which is usually much better quality and cheaper than Pie Face!
Yes, Pancakes on the Rocks is American style – it’s very sweet! But when I visited, I had savory pancakes which were not too sweet.
It seems like you were not too happy with the food in Australia overall.. Let me know next time you are going to visit and I will give you some recommendations! 🙂
